Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) Case Study

The Problem:

A local client was having difficulty integrating a new supervisor with his team. The supervisor was frustrated, the team members were beginning to show stress, and output was being affected.

The Solution:

I discussed the situation with the client and recommended that we perform personality and behavioral profiles on all of the employees (a total of 10) in this department in the hopes that we could then manage the individual traits of the employees to allow for a more positive and productive work environment.

The Result:

After all of the employees were profiled, it was identified that the supervisor of the group lacked some of the required traits of a successful manager. Further, the profile identified specific areas where stress was evident. A training plan was developed for the supervisor and implemented. Suggestions were made to delegate specific tasks that were generating stress to other team members. The supervisor began to show improvement quickly and productivity was increased.

In reviewing the profiles of the remaining team members at the same time, tasks were reassigned to employees that were more naturally suited to complete the tasks. For example, tasks requiring a high degree of attention to detail were funneled to one employee, while difficult customers were funneled to another. Morale improved, along with productivity.

One employee was identified through the process as a cause for much of the team stress. This employee is now being counseled and is on a very specific performance improvement plan.
