7. What does "business casual dress code" mean?
Many of TriStarr's employees have questions as to what to wear in our clients' offices. Some of our clients have professional dress codes, others have business casual dress codes and only a handful have casual environments. Following is a guideline for each type of dress code. However, if you are ever unsure if your attire is appropriate, please ask a TriStarr staff member.
  • Professional (Law Offices, Banks, Etc.)
    • Conservative suit. Men should wear a shirt and tie. Women should make sure that the skirt is not shorter than 2 inches above the knee. If the skirt has a slit, it should not be cut high enough to reveal anything above the knee. Most professional offices require nylons/pantyhose when wearing skirts, check with a supervisor before going without.

    • When wearing a skirt or dress with a slit, the slit should not be cut high enough to reveal anything above the knee.
    • Sandals and other open-toed shoes may not be appropriate in all offices, check before wearing.
    • If the client allows them, sleeveless dresses or shirts, such as tank tops or sundresses, should have wide straps or cap sleeves. Check before going sleeveless without a blazer or sweater.
    • Tops that reveal the navel are not appropriate for any office.
    • Cropped pants may not be suitable for all offices, check before wearing.
    • If a client allows shorts, check with us to make sure that your shorts are appropriate.
    • It is better to err on the side being too professional in dress. For the first few days on a new assignment, dress on the more professional side and observe how everyone else is attired.
    • When in doubt, check it out! If you have a question about whether an item is appropriate, ask before wearing.
